ATHLETICS HOME

We view the purpose of the athletic program at Covenant Day as a great opportunity for our student-athletes to develop and exercise Christ-like behavior, including self-discipline, obedience, discipleship, stewardship, grace and compassion. The athletic program seeks to develop these spiritual characteristics while also training the physical body in a competitive environment. Participation on any athletic team at Covenant Day is considered a God-honoring privilege.

We are excited about the numerous opportunities through athletics at both the high school and middle school levels to build character and leadership skills as well as a life-long enjoyment of physical activity. Fall sports at Covenant Day School include boys' soccer, volleyball, girls' tennis and cross-country.

In winter we offer swimming, basketball, and cheerleading. Spring sports are baseball, softball, girls' soccer, boys' tennis, track and field, and golf. All of our teams invite your support and encouragement at their games, matches and meets.

Covenant Day has enjoyed athletic success by winning three consecutive NCISAA Wachovia Cup championships within the school's first 5 years competing at the varsity level. The Wachovia Cup recognizes overall excellence in high school athletics among NCISAA member institutions. As such, the cup has become the single most valued athletic achievement award in North Carolina. In the 2008-2009 school year, CDS moved to the 3A level; the highest classification for NCISAA. The athletic program was honored to win the 3A state championship in men's swimming. This marks the team's third consecutive championship.

Covenant Day is a member of the Metrolina Athletic Conference (MAC), which includes First Assembly Christian School, Gaston Christian School, Hickory Grove Baptist Christian School, Metrolina Christian Academy, Northside Christian Academy, SouthLake Christian Academy and Westminster Catawba Christian School. While we are grateful for our strong athletic record, our foremost desire is to glorify God as we proclaim Christ through the way we compete.
