SUPPORT COVENANT DAY SCHOOL

Gifts of Time, Talent and Treasure
The most powerful partnership at Covenant Day School is the crucial alliance between parents, friends, and our school, working together for the good of each child.  This is a mutual commitment and requires everyone to contribute in whatever way and measure they are able.  An excellent Christian school like ours depends on the generosity of parents and friends of the school to volunteer their time and expertise, to participate in school life, and to support us financially.

Gifts are necessary because tuition gives your child access to more than parents are paying for.  At CDS, tuition covers a portion but not the full cost of educating your child.  In a way, every student at our school receives financial support.  That is why we need to raise annual funds, build endowments, and financial aid programs, and conduct capital drives.

A school’s special resources increase the budget – to attract and retain the very best teachers, keep class sizes and student-teacher ratios down, to make the school affordable and accessible to qualified students, to insure that our facilities provide exceptional learning environments, and to support all our curricular and extracurricular programs.  Unlike a for-profit business, whose mission is to make money, our mission is to provide a superior Christian education.  Today, that is an expensive enterprise, but one with a huge return on investment!

In short, your financial support preserves the very special Christian education you sought when you chose Covenant Day School – freedom from secular thinking and teaching, freedom from mediocrity and lack of rigor, freedom to worship God in all we do, to pursue excellence for God’s glory, and to participate in the spiritual lives and education of your children.

CASH
Gifts of cash are the most common form of support to CDS.  Checks should be made payable to Covenant Day School and sent directly to:

PLEDGES
Depending on the size of the gift, pledges of 3-5 years for capital campaigns and to create/build endowments are welcome as well as multiple gifts to the Annual Campaign.

EFT (Electronic Fund Transfers)
This is the easiest way to support Covenant Day School.  By simply filling out a one page form you control a monthly transfer to CDS each month.  Your EFT gift will then transfer out of the account you set to CDS in the exact amount you specify on the 6th of each month.  You do not need to do anything else and will receive gift confirmations and an annual tax receipt for all gifts.

You are always in control of your EFT.  You set, increase, or decrease your giving, decide which account to draw from, start and stop giving, and can end your EFT gift with one quick phone call to the school business office.

SECURITIES
It is strongly suggested that donors making gifts over $5,000 consider giving appreciated stock and securities instead of writing a check to support CDS.  Such gifts usually provide a significant additional benefit to the donor of avoiding capital gains on appreciation while maintaining the normal tax-deduction for the gift.

ENDOWMENT
Covenant Day School’s endowment funds ensure the school’s future.  Endowment giving is both timeless and limitless because endowments function as a permanent resource from which only a part of the income is spent on an annual basis.  As such, an endowment gift – once made – goes on working and blessing in perpetuity.  CDS’s endowment goals are to have an amount twice the annual operating budget.

What is the CDS Annual Campaign?
It is how we work together to provide important financial resources that help enhance programs, enable us to continue to pursue excellence, carry out our mission, meet financial aid needs, and hold down tuition costs.

Why should I give?
Your gift, whatever the amount, truly makes a difference!  Together, our gifts touch every department, program, and student on campus.

Who decides where my gift is used?
You do!  You may designate your gift to a specific project, program or department, or make your gift unrestricted.

Why should I support the Head of School Discretionary Fund?
Your gift to the HOS Discretionary Fund provides both flexibility and valuable financial support school-wide.  This funding allows our Head of School to address the school’s greatest and most prominent needs immediately.

Why do you contact me every year?
We want everyone to be involved and your annual support continues to make a difference ensuring that we maintain a Christian leader in academic excellence and grow in the Fine Arts and Athletics, while remaining solidly biblical and Christ-focused.
