Further Instructions
for Seniors regarding the college process

---If you have been deferred from a college, then be sure you have followed the admission department’s instructions carefully.  It is a good idea to be in touch with the admissions counselor via email or by phone.  Show your genuine interest! Your semester grades have been sent from the CDS guidance office, but many schools require applicants to update their own accounts with each school.  Be attentive to the details in this process.  Be sure the colleges/universities have your best test scores and most recent resume.

---Remember that college is a match to be made, not a prize to be won.

Miss Mills is looking forward to meeting with each junior and their parent in the near future. During the meeting, you will discuss how things are going this school year, plan ahead for next school year and discuss the college admission process. Click below to access the parent & students questionnaires required for all juniors and their parents.

---Be researching colleges.  Use the HELPFUL WEBSITES for college admissions that the guidance office has provided.  You simply want to get familiar with colleges so that as you start to make you list of colleges/universities that you want to apply to, you’ll have a knowledge base from which to draw.  Ask graduates about their college experience.

---Look for good summer camps or classes that will put you on college campuses that interest you.  This is a great way to get a look at and a feel for the college or university.

2009-2010 School Verse:

“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.  By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before Him;”   I JOHN 3:18-19

-- As you finish this academic year strong, remember to get involved in some great community service opportunities.  There are postings of opportunities across from the guidance bulletin board in the high school.

---Think about what you want to be remembered for in high school and be intentional about leaving that kind of legacy.  Your legacy is a result of all of your decisions you make throughout high school.

-- Remember that finishing this year well is the best thing that you can do in preparation for next year and for life after CDS.  This includes your relationships, your involvement in extra-curricular activities, your reflection on who the Lord is calling you to be and your engagement in your studies in and out of the classroom.

CDS School Verse:

“…We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.”  II Corinthians 10:5
